Daughters honor JROTC cadet

Parliamentarian Kathie Mittelsteadt, of the Sun City Agua Fria chapter of the National Society Daughter of the American Revolution Chapter, presented the NSDAR JROTC certificate and bronze medal at the Cactus High School JROTC awards ceremony to Cadet Kaylen Martinez, Unit AZ-791, Air Force Junior ROTC.
Lt. Col. Roel Zamora is the commanding officer in charge of the Cactus High School JROTC program and this award can be presented to any high school or junior college junior or senior who is enrolled in JROTC programs of the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps.
To receive the bronze medal, Martinez displayed outstanding ability and achievement by demonstrating loyalty and patriotism and earning a record of military and scholastic achievement during her participation in the JROTC program.
She was in the upper 25% of her ROTC and academic classes and showed qualities of dependability and good character, adherence to military discipline, leadership ability and fundamental and patriotic understanding of the importance of JROTC training.
