Sun City player wins national pickleball doubles title

Sun City Pickleball Club member Malcolm Derr won a gold medal at the recent 2017 USA Pickleball Association Championships at Palm Creek in Casa Grande.
Mr. Derr teamed with Carl Tietze of Apache Junction to clinch the men’s 70-and-older title, in the 5.0-4.5 skill level division.
More than 1,400 players ages 8 and older competed on 32 courts from Nov. 4-12.
The Sun City Pickleball Club was founded in 2003, and today boasts nearly 800 members.
The World Team Pickleball Championships are coming to Sun City West from Dec. 7-10. Play takes place at Liberty Courts, 13800 W. Deer Valley Drive.
