Sun City Cycling Club adds new Tuesday ride
Posted
In addition to the Sun City Cycling Club’s normal Thursday rides, a new Tuesday ride will be added to the schedule.
Tuesday rides will be geared to the casual bicyclist with emphasis and training on safety and proper group riding practices. Rides will use Sun City streets and/or the New River Trail, and will range from 5 to 10 miles. Speed will depend on the riders present but no one will be dropped. Experienced riders will be available to assist new riders if they desire. A breakfast or lunch stop will follow the rides at riders cost for those who desire.
The first Tuesday ride will take place at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 2 starting at the Sundial Recreation Center, 14801 N. 103rd Ave.
On the night of Dec. 16, Sun City Cycling Club and Southwest Bicycles Cycling Club jointly presented the 6th annual bicycle Tour de Sun City Christmas Lights. The cyclists toured by many festive and beautifully Christmas decorated residences using the relatively low traffic and quiet streets of Sun City and some surrounding communities. The tour finished at a member’s home for hot drinks, holiday snacks and to share among themselves their personal favorite light display.
Southwest Bicycles shop sponsored the best decorated bicycle contest. This year’s winner of a $20 gift card was Larry Delong, a Sun City resident. Performance Bikes donated patch kits for the individuals’ gift bag that each participant took home.
