A native Arizonan and Northern Arizona University alum, Steve Chernek has covered the state since his high school years, much of that time as a photojournalist in Flagstaff, Wickenburg, Sun City and the Phoenix area. Favorite assignments inlcude President Clinton’s campaign stop in the Valley, Paul McCartney’s concert at Sun Devil Stadium, the Wallace & Ladmo Show (if you grew up here, you know), and anything at any zoo.
His current role is that of Daily Independent page designer and guardian of the puzzles, comics and advice columns. When not at work he can be found fencing (the sport, not the criminal activity), making mead and collecting antique photographs.
