SRP honors Queen Creek schools for energy-efficiency efforts

Queen Creek School District 95 has been recognized by Salt River Project as a Champion of Sustainability.

The award honors “outstanding achievements in electrification, energy efficiency and clean energy through participation in SRP’s Business Solutions Program,” according to a release.

The Queen Creek district serves approximately 14,000 preschool through 12th-grade students at 15 schools.

The district joined the SRP Business Demand Response Program and achieved a 1,786-kW reduction in energy use, the release stated.

"SRP is proud to partner with our commercial customers to help them achieve their sustainability goals through energy efficiency and electrification," Rudy Navarro, SRP interim associate general manager and chief customer executive, said.

“These sustainability efforts not only benefit the business, but their customers and the greater Phoenix community as well."

The award winners were recognized recently at the 10th Annual Champions of Sustainability Awards luncheon at the Arizona Biltmore.
