Police make arrest in Surprise shooting

An 18-year-old man has been arrested in the July 2 shooting of another teen, who remains in critical condition, Surprise police said.
Daniel Majok, 18, faces several charges, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to a release from the Surprise Police Department.
The shooting occurred at a home near 168th Avenue and Jenan Drive where officers responded to a call and found a house party with witnesses in the street. They were directed to an 18-year-old man who had gunshot wounds in his upper body.
The victim was taken to a hospital where he remains in critical condition, police said Wednesday.
Officers and detectives interviewed dozens of witnesses who indicated the victim was shot during a fight with another man. The suspect pulled out a handgun and fired it at the victim multiple times. He then left the area before officers arrived, according to police.
Investigators found Majok several miles away near his home, and he was taken into custody without incident. He had a firearm, police said.
“During a Miranda interview, Majok admitted to his involvement” in the shooting, the release stated. He was booked on the following charges:
Aggravated assault.
Aggravated assault – deadly weapon.
Possession of prohibited weapon.
Unlawful discharge of firearms.
Tampering with physical evidence.
An investigation is continuing, and police said there is believed to be no outstanding threat to the community.
