Glendale police continue to investigate an officer-involved shooting which involved about half a dozen local and federal agencies Thursday night, according to a spokeswoman.

At about 7 p.m. April 20, the Glendale Police Department responded to a call of an incident involving local and federal task force members in the area of 5200 W. Northern Avenue.

According to Officer Tiffany Smith the agencies were attempting to apprehend a suspect who was armed and dangerous and wanted on multiple felony counts. Officials surrounded a vehicle near the address above. Three occupied the vehicle.

"As they were attempting to apprehend the subject an officer-involved shooting did ensue," Officer Smith told reporters in a media staging at the scene. "Two subjects did sustain gunshot wounds."

The suspects were transported to a local Valley hospital. The nature of their injuries is unknown.

Officials apprehended a third person, according to Officer Smith. That person was not shot, but officials transported and interviewed the person at a local police station.

No officers sustained any injuries during the shooting. It is unknown which agency fired shots or if any of the people in the vehicle returned fire.

In an email, Sgt. Scott Waite stated Mesa Police Department was headed to the scene. Officer Smith did not release the names of the other agencies involved as the families and agencies of the officers have not been notified.
