Seven seniors from Queen Creek High and two seniors from Eastmark High will receive the Arizona State Seal of Arts Proficiency on their diploma this year.
The students are receiving the distinction because of their proficiencies in arts, music, theater and dance programs both inside and outside of school, a press release stated.
The student’s capstone projects ranged from solo performances and large art murals to full-theater productions.
The art seal is given by the Arizona Department of Education’s Office of Arts Education. Thes nine seniors will join 39 Queen Creek Unified School District students who received the seal when it was launched four years ago.
One recipient of the arts seal, Eastmark High senior Grace Stevenson, organized a student-led concert for her capstone project.
“The fine arts have always played a huge role in my life ever since I was young,” stated Stevenson in the release. “I am confident that they will continue to mentor and educate me throughout the rest of my life.”
To receive the Arizona State Seal of Arts Proficiency, students must maintain a B average or above in a combination of arts, and career and technical education courses totaling at least four credit hours; have a minimum of 80 extracurricular hours in their chosen discipline; and complete a capstone project.
