Miss Arizona Shailey Ringenbach will distribute free dog booties to the public on Saturday, Aug. 24, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Fulton Homes’ Cause for Paws tent in the PetsMart parking lot at Desert Ridge Marketplace, 21001 N. Tatum Blvd.
Crowned in June 2024 and known for her year-long service initiative, “Share the Love: Improving Mental Health Through Pet Therapy,” Ringenbach will help spread awareness of the dangers of hot pavement to a dog’s paws.
As temperatures continue to stay in the triple digits, the importance of protecting pets continues. Studies have shown that a dog’s paw will redden and burn after just five minutes on a 120-degree surface. A 140-degree surface can cause permanent damage in just one minute, and at 150 degrees, rapid burns and blistering occur, leading to permanent nerve damage. The free dog booties provided at this event from Pawz Dog Booties are designed to keep pets’ paws safe during walks and daily breaks outside.
This is the last of eight events held since May and thousands of free booties have been distributed across the Valley.
