Local organist plays at Scottsdale Church

Dr. Jeremy Peterman, organist and handbell choir director at La Casa de Cristo Lutheran Church, 6300 Bell Road, in Scottsdale, will present an organ recital at the church at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20 at the church titled “Bells and Belle.”

Peterman will perform on the church’s 91-rank, 5067-pipe Berghaus Organ, which is one of the largest in the Southwest.

The program will include a variety of pieces centered around “bells” and “belles.” In the “bells” category will be two Vierne Carillons and the dramatic “Carol of the Bells” by Gerald Near. Then, playing on the name, “belles” (beautiful ladies) will be portrayed in Bizet’s “Carmen” medley. There will also be a silent American film overture, “My Best Girl.”

The recital is free; however, a free-will offering will be received to benefit the church’s music ministry. For more information, contact Peterman at jpeterman@lacasadecristo.com.
