Jeffrey Robert Smith

Posted

Jeffrey, beloved husband, father, son, and brother, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, September 6th, 2024 in Tonto Basin, Arizona, leaving behind a family and community who will forever miss him. He is survived by his loving wife Keli and his three cherished children, Hailey, Silas, and Colton Smith, stepson Cody Wilson, granddaughters Quincy and Brooks, and beloved companion Muzzy, who mourn the loss of Jeff with deep sorrow. He is also survived by his devoted parents, Kathleen and Dennis Lowe, who feel his absence profoundly.
Jeff was a caring brother, missed by his blended family: Kerry (Nate Boone) and Jeremy (Erin) Smith; Casey (Kelly), DeeDee (Mark Jacobsen), Denny (Tracey), and Daniel (Alison) Lowe, each of whom admired his warmth, humor, and loyalty. His adoring nieces and nephews will miss their family reunion time and personal experiences with him.
An avid hunter and outdoorsman, Jeff’s prowess with a rifle and his more recent mastery of the modern compound bow was legendary among his fellow hunters. His skill in the field, particularly with a bow, was unparalleled. His ability to strike true, both in his aim and in his connections with those around him, set him apart. Jeff found peace and joy in the outdoors, where he could pursue his passion for the wilderness and for life’s simple pleasures.
Jeff was also a hard worker, known for his dry wit and a favorite saying: “If you need to know anything about dirt, just ask me.” His extensive knowledge of earth-moving projects and his talent for organizing teams to complete tough jobs efficiently made him a respected figure in his profession. His work ethic and leadership earned the admiration of all who had the privilege to work alongside him for the last 22 years at Ames Construction. Jeff and Keli achieved a lifelong goal of owning a ranch where they can raise and care for their animals. Jeff believed living the rancher life was a way to honor his beloved Uncle Mike and grandfather Scott.
