I am a 60-year Republican who voted Republican through the Bush administrations, and a 13-year Independent. I invite Republicans and other Independents to consider the following: In the upcoming presidential election, don’t think of it as a contest between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump; but as a decision between democracy and an autocracy.
As a post-World War II veteran, I find it appalling that there are people wanting to do away with our democracy, since over 500,000 service men and women gave their lives in WWI and WWII to preserve our democracy! (Wikipedia)
What if the MAGA far right extremists were to elect their President of the United States next November? Our democracy would be forfeited for an authoritarian dictator form of leader who would be welcomed by Putin (former KGB officer) of Russia, Xi Jinping (21-year President of China), Kim Jong-Un (13-year Supreme Leader of North Korea), and Viktor Orban (14-year Prime Minister of Hungary), and he is no match against them, thus defeating a democracy and dropping the U.S. to fourth or fifth place as a world power.
I would urge all the MAGA supporters and Independents to seriously consider if this is really what they want for the future of the United States.
