Gunfight leaves 2 dead on Phoenix street

Posted

Two men died Friday at a convenience store near 1700 West Van Buren Street, Phoenix police said.

Officers responded to the shooting about 12:30 a.m. Aug. 30 and found Jesus Erlandson-Gonzales Junior, 22, and Andres Wilkes, 20, with gunshot wounds. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

Homicide detectives took over the investigation and said based on early information Erlandson-Gonzales Junior instigated an argument with Wilkes that escalated into a gunfight during which each man was struck.

Additional details remain part of the ongoing investigation, police said.
