Phoenix property company, others chip in to pack 400K meals for hungry

Phoenix employees at the Lincoln Property Co. chipped in on Sept. 11 along with workers and volunteers from throughout the Valley to pack more than 400,000 meals for the hungry in the U.S.

The effort was part of 9/11 Day, co-founded by David Paine and Jay Winuk after Winuk's brother, Glenn, died in the line of duty when the World Trade Center South Tower Collapsed.

Lincoln brought 32 employees to the effort, part of one in 21 cities across the U.S. where the goal was to pack 9 million meals total. Roughly 25,000 volunteers nationwide contributed.

“Community, connection and collaboration are central elements of Lincoln’s corporate culture,” said Lincoln Property Company Senior Executive Vice President David Krumwiede. “We apply these values in our business and we seek out ways to apply them as volunteers. It is part of our promise to work continuously to improve the future of the Valley, and we always appreciate the opportunity.”

Lincoln officials also donated $11,000 to the effort.
