Glendale road rage incident leads to shooting death, arrest

An apparent road rage incident in Glendale has left one man dead and a 21-year-old suspect in custody.

Glendale police arrested Nevaeh Worsley in connection with the shooting homicide of a 23-year-old male.

Investigators say that just after 4 p.m. Thursday, July 27, a 9-1-1 call advised a male on a motorcycle was bleeding from a possible gunshot wound near the 14000 block of 67th Avenue. The man had a gunshot wound to his torso, and he was transported to a Glendale hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

Using the Glendale Police Department Real Time Crime Center, detectives identified a silver Hyundai Elantra allegedly involved in the road rage incident with the motorcyclist, and learned that the passenger of the Elantra was Worsley.

According to a witness the initial incident began at the intersection of 67th Avenue and Greenway Road. Video surveillance from a nearby Circle K appeared to show that the Elantra allegedly turned onto Greenway in front of the motorcycle causing the rider to become upset.

It appeared the two were exchanging words in a verbal altercation while at a red light. The witness also said the front passenger of the Elantra got out of the car with what appeared to be a black handgun at their side.

The motorcycle eventually made a southbound turn onto 67th Avenue, at which time the sedan followed. Both appeared to speed up considerably, according to a witness account in the police report.

While driving south on 67th after more verbal contact with one another, the driver of the sedan told police that the victim allegedly pulled alongside her front passenger door and reached his left hand into his front left jean pocket.

Worsley is alleged to have fired a shot at the victim. Police later identified a .45 caliber Glock as the suspected murder weapon.

A bullet also struck a nearby uninvolved residence just west of 67th Avenue.

Homicide detectives located Worsley near the 8300 block of Indian School Road where she was taken into custody without incident and booked on a second-degree murder charge.
