Glendale police are investigating a deadly shooting that occurred Tuesday night, according to a spokeswoman.

On March 28 at about 11:20 p.m., patrol officers responded to the parking lot of the apartment complex near 55th Avenue and Camelback Road for ShotSpotter activations.

Upon arrival they located a male who suffered a gunshot wound.

Officials treated him at the scene for his injuries, but he did not survive, Officer Tiffany Smith stated in an email.

Detectives responded to the scene and assumed the investigation.

“The investigation is ongoing but preliminary information is this was not a random shooting, but possibly drug related incident,” Officer Smith stated.

Next of kin notifications are in the process.

ShotSpotter is a company that uses special technology to track gunshots heard all over the city.
