Gilbert police make arrest in man's death

Gilbert police have made an arrest in connection with the death a 49-year-old man inside his residence, officials said.

Ivanka Koleva, 51, was arrested Monday in connection with her husband Stefan Kolev’s death and charged with one count of second-degree murder, according to police. She has been booked into the custody of the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.

Kolev was found dead Nov. 22 at a home near Guadalupe and Recker roads. Officers had responded to a call requesting a walkthrough of the residence and entered with the reporting party’s permission, police said.

Gilbert police detectives investigated because of the suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and made the arrest of Koleva as a result of the investigation and analysis of evidence collected at the scene, police said.
