Fresh Brunch raises $1M for one-n-ten LGBTQ youth programs
Annual fundraiser sets record
Posted
An annual fundraiser aimed at Valley group one-n-ten and its effort to help LGBTQ youth hit $1 million on Sunday.
The Fresh Brunch, held this year at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess, 7575 E. Princess Drive, pulled in more money in the single event than any of the organization’s efforts previously.
“To cross the $1 million mark for the first time ever is a dream come true for all of us here at one-n-ten,” said Nate Rhoton, one-n-ten’s CEO. “This was our first in-persona event since 2020, and there’s something truly special about having donors, supporters and allies — and those they’re directly helping — come together in the same room.”
Funds generated by one-n-ten’s Fresh Brunch help finance the continued operation of the nonprofit’s central headquarters in Phoenix, as well as 10 satellite locations throughout the state.
Money raised will allow for the opening of eight additional satellite locations and will also pave the way for one-n-ten to continue to help LGBTQ youth find housing, gain access to mental wellness services, obtain medical care and attend summer camp, among other opportunities.
The event featured a live auction as well as appearances by Rep. Greg Stanton, D-Ariz., and Nicole Stanton, Sen. Mark Kelly, D-Ariz., via a video message, Tempe Mayor Corey Woods, Scottsdale Mayor David Ortega, Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego, and Rachel Slawson, the current Miss Utah and the firs openly bisexual contestant to compete for Miss U.S.A.
“What Fresh Brunch does is show our young LGBTQ community members just how much of a support network they have, even if they may not feel like they have one at home or at school,” Rhoton said. “LGBTQ youth who have supportive individuals in their lives are less likely to feel depressed, alone or suicidal. While it’s impactful for our supporters to see where their dollars are going, it’s also impactful for our youth to be able to make direct connections with those who support them. And that’s the beauty of Fresh Brunch.”
