Benevilla will sponsor its next Memory Arts Bistro program on Thursday, Dec. 14. The featured performers will be an interactive ukulele performance with "Larry’s Ukuladies" from Sun City. The event will take place from 3 to 4:30 p.m. at Birt’s Bistro restaurant, located on the Benevilla campus at 16752 N. Greasewood St., in Surprise.

Benevilla Memory Arts Bistro program is a series of free afternoon arts and culture events specially designed for those with memory loss, their caregivers and their families. The program focuses on interactive activities, socializing, advanced learning and connecting memories with the arts.

"Larry’s Ukuladies" is a musical group of nine ukin’ women and a very special guy, Larry, who plays the bass ukulele. The group came together through the love for the ukulele instrument and their association with the Sun City Ukulele Club. About five years ago, they began getting together at each other’s homes to play, laugh and sing together. The word got out to various clubs and churches in Sun City that there was this fun-loving, ukulele playing group and the calls started coming in. Interacting with their audiences is core to their performances. They love when people laugh, sing and dance with them.

Memory Arts Bistro events are held at Birt’s Bistro on the main Benevilla campus at the Hellen & John M. Jacobs Independence Plaza. RSVP’s are required. Call 623-584-4999 to reserve your space. Light refreshments will be provided.

Started by the community and for the community in 1981, Benevilla is a not-for-profit family services agency dedicated to enhancing the lives of West Valley residents by providing care services for older adults, intellectually disabled adults, children and families.
