Scottsdale firm donates $10K to Phoenix’s Homeward Bound

Scottsdale’s Marsh McLennan Agency has awarded a $10,000 donation to Phoenix’s Homeward Bound.

Homeward Bound, a nonprofit, operates Thunderbirds Family Village, an emergency shelter and transitional housing program.

The shelter has 76 fully furnished private apartments where families may stay for up to six months, according to a release.

TFV includes a childcare facility, after-school programs, a family library, a teen center, an employment lab, emergency pantries, a laundry facility and case management services.

The $10,000 donation will help the organization advance its mission of supporting families experiencing homelessness through its Shelter and Community Services Programs, the release stated.

Julie Friedly, principal at Marsh McLennan Agency, originally received a $5,000 donation for Homeward Bound through Liberty Mutual and Safeco Insurance and their 2023 Make More Happen Awards.

Marsh McLennan Agency (formerly Lovitt-Touche) had the opportunity to raise an additional $5,000 by conducting a local awareness campaign for the nonprofit, according to the release, and together with the community, the goal was met, increasing the total donation to $10,000.

Throughout 2023, Liberty Mutual and Safeco Insurance will select up to 37 independent agents nationwide for a Make More Happen Award donating up to $370,000 to the nonprofits they support. Agencies became eligible for the award by submitting an application and photos demonstrating their commitment to a specific nonprofit, according to the release.
