Mr. Pickle’s Sandwich Shop named among fastest growing restaurants in U.S. for second year in a row

Mr. Pickle’s Sandwich Shop, headquartered in Scottsdale was named one of the fastest growing emerging restaurants in the country recently.

With more than 60 locations across Arizona and California, the Scottsdale business was honored by Nation’s Restaurant News in its annual 100 under 100 program for the second year in a row.

The 100 under 100 program is an annual list of the top 100 emerging chains with fewer than 100 locations done by Nation’s Restaurant News.

The list is curated based on a combination of review sales and unit-count information for top restaurant chains across the country, which was cut to only those with 100 locations or fewer at the end of 2023, and then sorted by the rate of unit-count growth between 2022 and 2023.

Mr. Pickle’s has been around since 1995. Although it started in northern California, it expanded to Arizona by moving its headquarters to Scottsdale in 2023. The business looks to continue to expand in the future.

“In the past 18 months, we’ve opened six locations across Arizona and our first location in Los Angeles County while welcoming new franchisees and providing innovative new systems, technology and menu enhancements to the entire Mr. Pickle’s family,” said Mr. Pickle’s CEO Mike Nelson.

“The brand is unique in that it doesn’t turn to big-box vendors for its ingredients, instead partnering with artisan bakers, regional farms, and ranches to source its products, making every item unique to us,” Nelson continued. “You will not see six-inch and footlong sizing from us, but more specialty breads than uniform options.”
