Barro’s Pizza raises funds for Arizona Cancer Foundation for Children

Posted

Throughout June, family-owned and operated Barro’s Pizza and Pepsi are teaming up for the ninth year to raise funds for the Arizona Cancer Foundation for Children, a local nonprofit with a mission to help Arizona families with the high costs and challenging logistics of caring for their children during cancer treatment.

Throughout June all 49 Barro’s Pizza locations in Arizona will donate proceeds, up to $50,000, from the sale of any lunch special to Arizona Cancer Foundation for Children, according to a press release.
Lunch hours vary by location.

“We look forward to this fundraiser every year,” Ken Barro, co-owner of Barro’s Pizza, said in the release. “Arizona Cancer Foundation for Children is instrumental in helping so many Arizona families during a very trying time. Thanks to our loyal customers, we’ve raised more than $261,000 to date and are excited to support them again this year.”

The Arizona Cancer Foundation for Children is celebrating its 10th anniversary. It was founded by Chrisie Abramo after she lost her young daughter, Ava, to cancer. Abramo traveled the country seeking the best treatment and care for her daughter. Knowing the struggle and the financial toll that takes on a family, Abramo started Arizona Cancer Foundation for Children to empower families by ensuring they have a secure place to live, access to medical treatment and continued support. Since its inception, the organization has helped hundreds of local families and continues to help more and more families each year.

“We are so grateful for Barro’s Pizza’s continued support,” Abramo said in the release. “Their contribution has had a significant impact on our ability to provide critical services and support to children and their families affected by cancer. We can’t thank them enough for their commitment to our cause and for making a difference in the lives of those who need it most. We are proud to have partners like Barro’s Pizza in our community.”
