In remembrance of 9/11, Schnepf Elementary School hosted a first-responder breakfast to recognize police officers, firefighters and other emergency responders who serve the community.

The students interacted with first responders and showed their appreciation through thank-you cards and posters while sharing breakfast.

"The kids love it. They asked so many questions, and they all seemed very excited since I first walked in," stated Michael Hanson, a Queen Creek Police Department officer, in a Queen Creek Unified School District press release.

Hanson expressed how grateful he was for receiving words of appreciation from students at the special breakfast.

"It's awesome that they show so much support," he added in the release.

One Schnepf Elementary student, Jaycie J., brought her grandmother, who is a fire department engineer, to the event.

"I'm really happy. It's fun to see her,” Jaycie stated in the release. "They always deserve it because they're risking their lives for us, and they always come to help."
