Queen Creek offers water-saving tips

This week is Fix a Leak Week, and the town Queen Creek thinks it’s the perfect opportunity to check for leaks in and out of your home.

Household leaks can waste nearly 1 trillion gallons of water annually nationwide, according to the town/s website.

Find tips on finding and fixing leaks to save water (and money) inside and outside of your home at www.QueenCreekAZ.gov/ReduceTheUse.

Among the tips:

  • Use dishwashers when washing dishes. They typically use less water than washing by hand.
  • Designate one glass for your drinking water each day.
  • Wash fruits and vegetables in a pan of water instead of under running water from the tap.
  • If you accidentally drop ice cubes on the floor, don’t toss them into the sink, drop them into a plant.
  • When doing laundry, match the water level to the size of the load.
  • Shorten your shower by a minute or two and you can save 150 gallons of water per month.
