Bystanders can play a critical role in an emergency situation, providing life-saving aid while first responders are en route.

Registration is required – visit QueenCreek.org/CPR to reserve your spot, space is limited. To increase the number of bystanders prepared to help in an emergency, the Queen Creek Fire and Medical Department is offering free CPR and Stop the Bleed classes this Saturday, Nov. 23, according to a release.

The CPR class provides training on how to respond during cardiac arrest; immediate administration of CPR can save a life. Stop the Bleed is a national awareness campaign and call to action. The class provides training on how to quickly stop the loss of blood, according to the release.

The CPR class is 9 a.m. to noon and the Stop the Bleed class is noon to 2 p.m. Registration is required for both classes at QueenCreek.org/CPR.

Both classes will be held at the Law Enforcement and Community Chambers Building, 20727 E. Civic Parkway.

The three-hour, hands-on CPR course is open to residents 13 years of age and older. Participants are encouraged to dress comfortably. The certification is provided through American Safety & Health Institute; the certificate is good for two years. Healthcare certifications will not be offered.
