Majority of Canyon Sounds performances postponed to 2021-22 season

Posted

During this COVID-19 period, the Gold Canyon Arts Council is postponing its entire 2020-21 Canyon Sounds season with the exception of the first artist, pianist Sean Chen, who will present a free virtual concert in late November.

However, all of the other season’s artists have agreed to return for the 2021-22 season, so we hope for your continued support. Following is our future concert lineup:

  • Sean Chen, pianist — free virtual concert, 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20. Go to goldcanyonarts.org, which will soon contain the virtual link. He is a rising star with a “million-volt smile” and the first American to reach the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition since 1987. Sean will present a dazzling one-hour program of music by Schubert, Bernstein, Ravel and Mozart.
  • The Diamonds — returning late 2021. In 1957, this group released an instant 20-million-selling hit, “Little Darlin,” dubbed “the national anthem of Rock and Roll.” They have expanded their repertoire and audiences and perform worldwide with symphony orchestras, in theatres and major concert halls.
  • The Brothers Four — returning in 2022. The unforgettable songs of the Brothers Four include such hits as “Greenfields,” “Try To Remember,” “Across the Wide Missouri” and their hit recording “The Green Leaves of Summer” from the motion picture “The Alamo.”
  • Delirium Musicum — returning in 2022. This 10-piece orchestra is a self-conducted chamber ensemble made up of the most creative and refined musicians in Los Angeles. They feature everything from baroque, classical and creative works by amazing new composers.
  • The Fitzgerald Family — returning in 2022. This exciting family of fiddlers and dancers present an eclectic program with traditional jigs and reels, bluegrass, jazz, Celtic and show-stopping Ottawa Valley step dancing. With their vocal arrangements and friendly family banter, this will be a truly unforgettable musical experience.
  • Jeri Sager in “This Broad’sWay” — returning in 2022. This veteran Broadway vocalist and actor is known for her portrayal of “Grizabella” in Cats, the role of “Fantine” in Les Miserables and “Eva Peron” in Evita. Get ready for an exciting night to remember.
