Higley district builds partnerships with local businesses

Higley Unified School District's Business and Community Partner Breakfast brought dozens of local business and community leaders together to network with school administrators and learn more about HUSD programs.

The business and community partnerships play a pivotal role in enhancing educational experiences for HUSD students and helping prepare learners to become active and productive leaders in their communities, according to district officials.

“It was wonderful to see such great representation from our town, our community, the faculty, and the students,” event attendee Ashley Hughes with Landings Credit Union said. “I was really impressed with how the students were so well-spoken and confident. You can tell that they really will be the next generation of leaders, which is really inspiring to see.”

The event featured presentations from HUSD students representing the Air Force JROTC program as well as Lighthouse Team leaders from the district’s Leader in Me programs at San Tan Elementary and Chaparral Elementary.

In addition, district administrators highlighted the #HigleyHelps initiative that provides opportunities for students to give back to their community.

Business leaders like Georgia da Silva with MckInstry say the initiative is a great way to build upon partnerships in the community while developing skills for students.

“I think that the #HigleyHelps initiative is excellent for students,” she said. “Not only to get more leadership skills and being the face of the Higley Unified School District, but also just putting their values first, giving back to the community that they want to continue supporting.”

HUSD students, staff and administrators will continue to prioritize partnerships through service projects, career day opportunities, and mutual collaboration that strengthens community engagement, according to the district.
