Independent Newsmedia
Gilbert’s Freestone Recreation Center, 1141 E. Guadalupe Road, is getting a new look.
The facility will be closed from Dec. 23-Jan. 3 for remodeling and will reopen on Saturday, Jan. 4, with a grand reopening celebration taking place 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, Jan. 11, according to a release.
While the center is closed, many improvements will be taking place; including 12,000 feet of new flooring, new countertops, fixtures, and walls in the bathrooms and locker rooms, fresh lighting, new lobby furniture, foosball, and ping pong tables, padding in the gymnasium, new facility signage, TV’s in the fitness center, changing of the holds route for rock wall, overall aesthetic improvements and more, the release states.
While the facility is undergoing renovations, the community is encouraged to use Gilbert Parks and Recreation’s other locations including McQueen Park Activity Center, Southeast Regional Library, and the Gilbert Community Center.
