SUV hits 11-year-old girl in school crosswalk, driver leaves scene

An 11-year-old girl was seriously injured Friday afternoon after she was hit by an SUV while in a school crosswalk near 19th Street and Roeser Road, police said.

The driver of the silver Mitsubishi Montero, which was headed west on Roeser, left the scene, and police area asking for the public’s help in locating the driver.

The collision occurred just before 4 p.m. April 12, and the girl was taken to a hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The SUV has black roof racks and a black front push bumper, according to a release
