Phoenix police pick up Cool ride

INDEPENDENT NEWSMEDIA
The Phoenix Police Foundation and Courtesy Chevrolet have partnered to launch the Cool Treats One van, which will travel to community events in 2022.
The primary function of the redesigned Cool Treats One van is to introduce the community to law enforcement “in a fun and engaging way that can encourage communication and help break down barriers that might exist,” a release stated.
“We would like the first contact with our department to be a positive interaction so trust and understanding can be established,” said officer Christopher Abril, who often is on board the van serving up icy treats.
"The Phoenix Police Foundation is extremely grateful for the partnership with Courtesy Chevrolet to bring to life Cool Treats One’s new and improved look," Timothy Thomas, president of the Phoenix Police Foundation, said.
"The icy treats truck allows engagement with the Phoenix Police Department and the community in a fun and positive way."
Scott Gruwell, CEO of Courtesy Automotive Group said the company has been supportive of Phoenix police for decades.
“Like the Phoenix police, Courtesy Automotive Group is part of the fabric of our community, since 1955.
“We . . . are thrilled to help make the Cool Treats One van a reality for our community,” he said.
