Midday shooting in Phoenix leaves 1 man dead, another in jail

Posted

A 29-year-old man is in jail today after police said he shot and killed a man earlier this week in the 9800 block of North 18th Avenue in Phoenix.

Phoenix officers responded to the shooting at about 11:45 a.m. April 8 near Mountain View Road and 18th Avenue and found Prince Luckey, 39, with at least one gunshot wound. He died at the scene.

Detectives began an investigation, and preliminary information suggests Luckey and Pedro Vazquez, 29, were involved in an argument that resulted in Luckey being shot by Vazquez, according to a release.

“Vazquez was located and made admissions during an interview after his arrest,” the release stated.  He was booked into jail on a murder charge.
