AHWATUKEE — Homicide detectives are now investigating the deaths of three adults after an apartment fire in Ahwatukee early Monday, authorities said.

The bodies of two women and one man were found inside a second-floor bedroom of the three-level apartment complex.

Phoenix police said at least one of the bodies had obvious signs of trauma. The victims weren't immediately identified.

Phoenix Fire Department Captain Todd Keller said crews responded to the blaze around 6:45 a.m. and found the three adults beyond resuscitation.

The Fire Investigations Task Force and Phoenix Police are trying to determine the cause of the deadly blaze, Keller said.
