A search is underway for the driver of a car that hit a pedestrian on Tuesday near 19th Avenue and Van Buren Street, police said.

The collision occurred about 3:10 a.m. July 23. The unidentified man who was hit by the car was taken to a hospital where he died, police said.

Preliminary information suggests the car, described as a small sedan, was eastbound on Van Buren Street when it collided with the pedestrian and continued east.

Anyone with information is asked to call Silent Witness at 480(WITNESS) or 480(TESTIGO) and provide an anonymous tip. Rewards will be paid for information leading to an arrest, police said.
