Banner Alzheimer's to hold bilingual event for Hispanic community

Posted

Banner Alzheimer’s Institute will hold a free bilingual community event, “Alzheimer’s in the Hispanic Community: How You Can Help,” from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday Sept. 21, at Peoria Community Center, 8335 W Jefferson St.

The event will help people interested in learning more about navigating life before and with Alzheimer’s disease. Participants can also get connected with Valley-wide dementia care specialists, resources, and community partners who are working together to end Alzheimer’s disease without losing another generation.

All educational presentations will be in both Spanish and English. The event will include food and lotería.

Hispanic Americans are 1.5 times more likely to develop Alzheimer's or another dementia than White Americans, according to the Alzheimer’s Association, and at least 1 in 10 Hispanics who are 65 or older have Alzheimer's or another dementia.

Registration is required. Call 602-230-CARE or go to www.BannerHealth.com/AlzheimersHispanicCommunity.
