Klotnia: Jacobs, Beasley and Hassler are the right choice for SUSD

Posted

When did our local, elected sitting mayor begin using his seat to endorse school board candidates? And the wrong ones at that. This is not just a political stunt; it's a situation that demands our attention. The community needs to open their eyes to the truth.

As a former teacher, mother of two SUSD graduates, and longtime Paradise Valley resident, I am invested in the success of our public-school students, families, teachers and staff. So much so that I regularly attend most of the district's School Board meetings to be informed and educated on the truth about what is going on.

I highly encourage you to do the same and get to know your current School Board members and those running for the three open seats in the general election on Nov. 5.

Gretchen Jacobs, Jeanne Beasley and Drew Hassler are the candidates we should support for the Scottsdale School Board if we want to keep politics out of our district and strengthen our neighborhood schools' educational experiences and environments.

Jacobs, Beasley and Hassler are proven parent leaders and professionals in our community who have collaboratively teamed up to address the continued decline in academic achievement, student and staff turnover, and wasteful spending of taxpayer dollars.

Join my family in supporting the “Just Be Honest” team. Let's bring transparency, accountability and integrity to SUSD instead of politically propping up a system that needs help.

Although school board candidates will be at the bottom of your ballot, their positions will directly affect our students and community. Your vote for Jacobs, Beasley and Hassler (remember JBH) is a vote for honesty, trust and a commitment to a better future for our schools.
