In September, Valley Presbyterian Church in Paradise Valley will have a carnival, blood drive and cardiac screening day, according to an e-newsletter.

The Oasis Carnival Kickoff is 6–7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4 at Awaken Cafe. there will be food, games, water inflatables and more.

The fall blood drive for the American Red Cross is 8 a.m.–2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8 in the Landes Center. To help save a life, register online at https://www.redcross.org/.

A cardiac screening day by the Anthony Bates Foundation is 9 a.m.–3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15 in the Landes Center.

The Anthony Bates Foundation believes that no one should suffer the heartbreak of losing a loved one to an undiagnosed cardiac malady, seeking to eliminate preventable sudden cardiac arrest. One in every seven screenings identifies sometimes life-threatening heart issues, the newsletter stated.

The screening takes 30 minutes or less, and includes blood pressure, ECG/EKG, ultrasound/echo and physician review.

VPC is working with Scottsdale Unified School District, Paradise Valley Unified School District, Temple Solel and local sports teams to promote and provide the community with this potential live-saving opportunity.

The fee for students and youth is $25, and adults $95. To register, email appts@anthonybates.org.
