Goodyear celebrates Annual Cities & Towns Week

The City of Goodyear is participating at Arizona's 23rd Annual Cities & Towns Week takes place Oct. 13-19. Organized by the League of Arizona Cities and Towns, the event highlights the various services and functions of local governments across the state.

Monday, Oct. 14, Goodyear city officials celebrated the administrative team at the City Manager’s Office through posts on the city's social media pages. The City Manager’s Office responsible for daily operations and implementing city council policies.

Wynette Reed is Goodyear's city manager, the top appointed official in Goodyear’s city government. Reed has been working with the city of Goodyear since 2011 and transitioned into the city manager role in 2023. 

"I really enjoy working with all of the city’s employees and being part of a team that creates solutions, innovates, and takes pride in the services we provide for our residents," said Reed in a 2020 employee profile

Each day in Cities & Towns Week features a specific theme focused on different municipal operations:

  • Sunday, Oct. 13: Community & Culture Services — Emphasizing libraries, museums, and cultural programs.
  • Monday, Oct. 14: Administrative Team — Recognizing the roles of city managers and administrative staff.
  • Tuesday, Oct. 15: Public Safety — Acknowledging the work of firefighters, police officers, and public safety officials.
  • Wednesday, Oct. 16: Parks & Recreation — Showcasing recreational facilities and programs.
  • Thursday, Oct. 17: Economic Development — Highlighting initiatives that support local business growth.
  • Friday, Oct. 18: Public Works — Focusing on infrastructure maintenance and services.
  • Saturday, Oct. 19: Mayor & Council — Featuring elected officials in local governance.

 The League of Arizona Cities and Towns mission statement says the organization supports local governance and provides resources to municipalities. Cities & Towns Week offers a platform for residents to learn more about their local governments and the services they provide.
