Board members scheduled to discuss public art in Litchfield Square Park

Posted

The City of Litchfield Park will hold a meeting of the Recreation and Public Grounds Commission at 7p.m. on Thursday Oct. 10 at the City Hall Conference Room, 214 W. Wigwam Blvd, to discuss initiatives related to the community’s public spaces.

The agenda will include an update on the HOLA! West Valley Municipal Art Program, which facilitates temporary site-specific art projects across the region, including Litchfield Park. This program aims to support local artists and enhance the cultural environment. Litchfield Park is seeking artists or artist teams to design temporary artwork for display at the new Litchfield Square Park.

This follows the City Council’s approval of $10,000 from the city's Capital Improvement Budget during the June 18 city council meeting, allocated for various public grounds projects.

Proposals for the project were due on Oct. 1. Applicants were asked to focus on interactive installations that would be safe and suitable for public viewing.  Board members are expected to go over the proposals for the first time atthe Thursday meeting.
