Undergraduate college students interested in pursuing careers in healthcare have another resource for navigating the path toward a graduate education in the health sciences, through a new program established by Midwestern University in Glendale.

The Mentors in Medicine & Science mentorship program pairs undergraduate students from Maricopa County with Midwestern University students from all eight university colleges, representing more than 20 healthcare career tracks.

The MIMS program provides monthly communication between Midwestern mentors and their undergraduate partners about potential careers, how to navigate their professional journey, creating good study habits and navigating the process of applying to graduate and professional schooling and training. An on-campus MIMS event in the spring will offer hands-on lab experiences.

The MIMS program begins with a kick-off reception and faculty panel from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10 at Midwestern University's campus, 19389 N. 59th Ave., in Glendale Attendance at this event is required in order for students to be paired with mentors.

Registration for MIMS is due by Wednesday, Oct. 2. For information about MIMS, visit this web page, e-mail azevents@midwestern.edu, or call 623-572-3353.
