Two Gilbert restaurants working with charities in September

Throughout the month of September, Grimaldi’s Pizzeria is holding its 13th annual No Kid Hungry campaign.

For every $5 donated, up to a total of $25 per visit, guests will receive bounce-back cards matching the donated amount to use on their next visit.

All the proceeds raised will benefit No Kid Hungry, which is working to end childhood hunger by helping launch and improve programs that give all kids the healthy food they need to thrive.

Grimaldi's has six Arizona locations, including one at 2168 E. Williams Field Road, suite 102, Gilbert, in the San Tan Village mall.

Toasted Mallow teaming with cancer foundation

Locally owned Toasted Mallow, which serves marshmallow treats, is partnering with the Arizona Cancer Foundation for Children this month to raise money for children and families affected by pediatric cancer.

Now through Sept. 28, which is recognized as Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month, the Gilbert marshmallow shop located at 1034 N Gilbert Road will donate 20% of all banana desserts purchased in-store or online.

Banana treats offered include the banana cream milkshake, cupcakes and marshmallows. Toasted Mallow selected banana because gold, the color representing Pediatric Cancer Awareness, complements their commitment to the cause.

Arizona Cancer Foundation for Children was founded in 2013 by Chrisie Abramo, who lost her young daughter, Ava, to cancer.

In 2014, Funari’s personal experience inspired her to launch Arizona Cancer Foundation for Children, which offers everything from navigating hospitals, providing financial assistance and other support needed by families.
