Mesa Library summer reading program launches on June 1

Posted

Registration is open for the Mesa Public Library's summer reading program.

Running from June 1 through Aug. 1 as part of the Arizona Summer Reading Program, the theme for this year is   “Adventure Begins at Your Library," inviting pre-readers through adults to explore the library and read books to potentially win prizes.

Participants can earn online badges and collect secret codes at select city locations such as city pools, the i.d.e.a. Museum, Mesa Arts Center and more.

All ages can earn prizes when they log 250, 500, 750 and 1,000 points.  Prizes are based on point levels and include restaurant coupons, passes for state parks, Phoenix Mercury tickets, free books and more. Those who finish the program with 1,000 points will be entered into raffles for additional prizes.

“Most people don’t realize our summer reading programs are open to adults as well as children. We want to make summer reading fun and accessible for everyone and encourage parents to join in on reading with their kids,” said Polly Bonnett, Mesa library director. “Reading over the summer is not only vital for children to keep up their reading fluency and comprehension skills, but it also has benefits for all ages.”

Registration is available online at this link but you can also register June 1 at the following four events, per a press release:
