There are six candidates for the Gilbert Public Schools' governing board's three seats in the November election.

One incumbent is up for reelection, Sheila Rogers-Uggetti. Lori Wood chose not to run again and Ronda Page withdrew from the race after initially qualifying.

Here is biographical information provided by the candidates. Shana Murray and Ann Stevens did not responsed to Gilbert Independent requests for the information.

Jesse Brainard

Jesse Brainard

Jesse Brainard is a lifelong resident of Gilbert and a product of Gilbert Public Schools. He started his career in public service in 2019, working for the state of Arizona, where he now is in a managerial role in constituent services and is an internship coordinator.

His parents, a Marine veteran and a now 24-year GPS educator, moved to Gilbert in the ‘90s because of the schools. As a student with an IEP and later a 504, he received the resources he needed to succeed and graduated from Gilbert High School in 2016.

Brainard holds an associate's degree from Chandler Gilbert Community College and is set to graduate with his bachelor’s degree in political science from Arizona State this spring.

Fun Fact: Having been a Gilbert High School Choir student, he joined the Chandler-Gilbert Community College Concert Choir and performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City in 2018.

Rose Parker

Rose Parker

Rose Parker is a mother of two students in Gilbert Public Schools, one in elementary school and one in high school. She and her husband, Justin, made Gilbert their home because of the reputation of the schools and the community.

Since then, she has been actively involved in her children's education, starting as a room parent and currently serving as the president of Mesquite High School's Cheer Boosters Club.

Parker was a stay-at-home mom for eight years and her passion for education and community inspired her to get a bachelor’s degree in political science from Arizona State. She now works for the state of Arizona.

Fun fact: Parker was born and raised in New York City but only did the touristy attractions once she moved out of the city.

Blake Robison

Blake Robison

Blake Robison is a local business owner and educator with management, hiring, operations, and budget experience.

Robison earned master’s degrees in education and science in addition to his training as an orthodontist and spent the first few years of his career teaching at his alma mater. He has experience serving on many national and state organization boards of trustees, committees and task torces. Blake also is a long time Cub Scout leader and youth sports coach.

He is a longtime GPS volunteer, having served on several school and district committees. He serves on the district's Master Capital Planning Committee.

Blake and his wife, Addi, have been married for 22 years and have four sons, three attending GPS schools and one having just graduated.

Sheila Rogers-Uggetti
Sheila Rogers-Uggetti

Sheila Rogers-Uggetti

Sheila Rogers-Uggetti is beginning her 53rd year in education this fall. She started teaching at Gilbert Junior High School when Gilbert Junior was located in the current district office. She spent 17 years teaching special education and regular education at Gilbert Junior, Gilbert Elementary, Patterson and Houston. She then went to the district as interim director of personnel just at the start of the town’s explosive growth. She spent the next 21 years as principal of Gilbert Elementary.

In 2010, she had the opportunity to return to her hometown of Douglas as superintendent where she spent five years. Upon returning to Gilbert, she did some subbing and some work with ASU. In 2016 she ran for her first term for the GPS Governing Board. She has served two terms on the board and has been the board president for three years and the board clerk for two years. She is currently board president.

Rogers-Uggetti is married to a retired educator, and both of her children and grandson are GPS products.

Fun fact: Rogers-Uggetti's first classroom was the current superintendent’s office.
