Gilbert police, fire departments hold S.A.F.E. shopping event at Trader Joe's

Posted

The Gilbert Police Department and Gilbert Fire & Rescue will partner with Trader Joe's to bring their annual Sensory Awareness Family Event on Sept. 25.

The event will be held at the Trader Joe's, 1779 E Williams Field Road, Gilbert from 1-5 p.m. The event is open to all shoppers, however, there will be an emphasis on adult shoppers from 1-3 p.m. and families from 3-5 p.m.

To allow for a calmer shopping environment during that time, there will be no in-store announcements, reduced noise, no music and additional help from Gilbert Police and Gilbert Fire & Rescue.

That environment allows families who have a loved one who struggles with sensory issues to have a better shopping experience.
