Hermie: Keep Mayor Dickey and her multigenerational approach to leading our town

Mayor Dickey is a mother with three sons, two stepdaughters, nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. As such, she sees the wisdom of educating our young people in leadership and civic involvement at an early age. Here are some examples of how Mayor Dickey accomplishes this.

She knows the importance of encouraging young people to be involved in activities such as our town’s Make a Difference Day, where they can engage in helping their elders with tasks around their properties that prove too difficult for them to complete on their own. Mayor Dickey also created a program where she relies on our district’s teachers to select students in each of our 13 grades who demonstrate positive deportment and leadership skills with their peers at our schools. These students are then presented with certificates at a governing board meeting so they experience recognition for their efforts in a meaningful and rightful manner.

Another activity in which Mayor Dickey includes several students is the Mayor’s Youth Council, which meets throughout the school year and keeps her informed of issues which our youth feel need attention within our town. Recently, several of our students were invited to attend the League of AZ Cities and Towns and they carried the Fountain Hills banner in the opening ceremony of the conference. This activity has become a regular part of their program since Ms. Dickey has been our mayor.

These are just a few examples of how Mayor Dickey uses a multigenerational approach in leading our town. She recognizes the wisdom in engaging all ages in participating in the work it takes to provide a healthy, well-rounded citizenry. Please vote to re-elect Ms. Dickey as our mayor in order to keep Fountain Hills as the outstanding hometown it is.
