Ceremony honors Florence firefighters

The Florence Fire & Medical Department recently held its annual awards dinner and pinning ceremony.

The July 12 event celebrated the work and dedication of the department’s team.

“The pinning ceremony, a significant tradition in the fire service, symbolizes a firefighter's dedication and commitment to the community they serve,” a town of Florence Facebook post stated.

During the ceremony, each member was presented with the department’s new badges.

Also at the event, Florence Fire Chief Mitch Snyder presented Administrative Assistant Lavonna Perez with a plaque of appreciation.

Additionally, the department announced that Fire Engineer Sean Mahoney had been named firefighter of the year, a designation awarded to him by his colleagues.
