Credit Union hosts fun financial literacy event for teens

Posted

First Credit Union is hosting a free, fun event for middle- and high-school students to help practice budgeting and financial decision-making called Mad City Money.

The event will take place at Chandler Community College's Pecos Campus, 2626 E. Pecos Road in Chandler today, Tuesday, April 2 from 4 p.m. to 7 pm.

Each of the 60 student participants will be assigned a future identity, complete with job, home and relationship status and then make decisions on things like entertainment, food, travel, housing, education and childcare.

Held in April to coincide with Financial Literacy Month, Mad City Money prepares teens to manage one of the most important (and biggest stresses) in adult life: finances.

Often missing in school curriculum, according to a news release, First Credit Union aims to introduce students to good financial habits, to dream big and to get excited about the future.

The April 2 event is full,  but parents and students can sign up at this link for the fall 2024 event.
