The Chandler Police Department has released the names of two people killed in a late-night collision June 18.

The department's  Vehicular Crimes Unit is investigating a two-vehicle collision that resulted in the death of both Nick Vasquez, 38, of Casa Grande, and Sameera Vishwanath, 34. of Newark, California.

Chandler police and fire crews responded to the intersection of South Price Road and West Armstrong Place at about 10:30 p.m. on June 18.

Through investigative means, detectives have determined that Vasquez,  the driver of a grey Nissan sedan, was traveling southbound on South Price Road, lost control of his vehicle.

He collided with Vishwanath's white Ford SUV that was traveling north through the intersection from West Armstrong Place.

Both drivers died as a result of their injuries.

Chandler Police didn't mention whether impairment is suspected as a possible factor. Detectives are now working to determine what led to this tragic incident, police said.
