Karen Self was recently honored by the Chandler City Council on what was listed as “Karen Self Day” on a meeting agenda.

Self, the Seton Catholic Prep girls basketball coach for more than 30 years, passed the 800-win plateau early this past season.

Her total places her among the most successful coaches in Arizona and in the U.S. as measured in wins.

Making the presentation were Chandler Mayor Kevin Hartke, who read a "Karen Self Day" proclamation, and Chandler Council member Jane Poston.
