Declaring public utility easements at two parcels on Concho Street are no longer necessary for public use and may be extinguished will be discussed at Tuesday’s Apache Junction Water Utilities Community Facilities District meeting.

The board, made up of members of the city council, meets at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. Oct. 15, in the council chambers, 300 E. Superstition Blvd.

A map in the board packet shows the public utility easements are between parcel numbers 100-25-015B and 100-25-016B east and adjacent to Vista Road to State Route 88, south of Windsong Street and north of Foothill Street.

Water district

The Apache Junction Water District supplies groundwater pumped from the Eastern Salt River Sub-Basin Aquifer, which flows southwesterly under Apache Junction and its surrounding areas. The groundwater is treated for arsenic removal where necessary, disinfected with chlorine, pumped into storage tanks and blended with surface water from the Colorado River.

The surface water is transported through the Central Arizona Project canal system and filtered and purified at the Superstition Area Water Plant before being introduced into the distribution system.

The water district can also receive treated CAP water from the city of Mesa through an interconnect for a backup supply of water, if needed.
