CAC student group to hold 9/11 ceremony

Posted

To commemorate the 23rd anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks, a student group at Central Arizona College will be hosting a special ceremony at the Signal Peak campus in Coolidge.

The Young Americans for Freedom chapter at CAC is inviting students, faculty, staff and Pinal County residents to take part in its “9/11 Never Forget Project" ceremony.

From 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 11, the group will be holding a “patriotic” ceremony at the Signal Peak Campus, 8470 N. Overfield Road.

Throughout the day, 2,977 American flags will be on display at the Maricopa and Signal Peak campus greens. The flags represent each individual who died in the terrorist attacks, according to a press release from CAC.

At the evening ceremony, special recognition will also be given to first responders and armed service personnel.

YAF is a national organization formed by young conservatives. The CAC chapter was started by CAC student Khahn Huynh in 2023.
